MySpeaker AAC Lite: A Voice for Those in Need
MySpeaker AAC Lite is an Android application developed by Portset Systems, designed to provide a voice for people with speech difficulties or disabilities. The app allows users to create phrases, sentences, statements, or words that are typed into the "my phrase editing window" and spoken aloud. If a phrase is needed again, simply press the "Spk" button on the keyboard.
With keyword recognition, the app can find a word within a stored phrase. Editing of the typed phrase is achieved with the left and right arrow cursor keys, and letter deletion is provided by the "DEL" key. The Lite version is limited to 5 phrases, and the app terminates after 15 minutes.
MySpeaker AAC Lite has been used successfully as a tool for helping children with learning difficulties in creating sentences and getting the soundings of words, as well as for users with dyslexia in pronunciation of speech. It is important to ensure that text-to-speech is turned on in the Settings menu and to select the voice gender within the selected TTS voice settings.
